Cícero Lee

Biography

Cícero Lee is a Portuguese bassist, composer and producer whose work has developed across jazz, improvisation and contemporary music. Active since 1999, he has built a personal language centred on melody, interaction and the possibilities that emerge between composition and improvisation.

Throughout his career, Lee has worked with musicians from different generations and musical backgrounds, both in Portugal and internationally. His projects reflect an ongoing interest in dialogue: between written material and spontaneous creation, between acoustic tradition and contemporary approaches, and between different cultural and musical contexts.

Released in 2026, light / beyond is his fifth album as a bandleader and composer. The record brings together Portuguese and Brazilian musicians in a project where lyrical writing, rhythmic freedom and collective interaction form the core of the music.

Alongside his work as a performer and composer, Cícero Lee has also developed projects in production, recording and music education, maintaining a broad relationship with the creative and professional dimensions of contemporary music.
